Dear AUUC Community,
I wish to invite you to our Annual Congregational Meeting on June 2, 2019 at 11:30 following church services. Our Congregational Meetings are important for putting into practice the democratic principles asserted by our Fifth UU Principle. Our By-laws reinforce this by requiring us to meet as a congregation yearly to elect new officers and receive information from various groups. We also use this time to review our financial status and select the social justice outreach organizations that we will support during the following year.
I strongly urge you to attend to exercise your commitment to AUUC. Registration for voting by members will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue when services end until the meeting is called to order at 11:30 a.m. We will be serving refreshments to keep us sustained during the meeting.
The meeting agenda is as follows:
- Opening remarks by Kristina Watts, President of the Congregation
- Financial Report from Joe Tuggle, Financial Advisor
- Endowment Report
- Memorials Report
- Safety and Security Task Force Report
- Covenant Task Force – Bylaw amendment
- Selection of Social Justice Outreach Collections for next year (see attached)
- Election of Officers (see attached)
- Conclusion of our Interim, report by Rev. Linda Olson Peebles
In the attachments you’ll find a description of the candidates for the election of our leaders. Should you not be able to attend the meeting on June 2, there is also a proxy form with a sample ballot. Please remember that each individual attending can only act as the proxy for one person not attending. It is important that we have a quorum to elect our officers. Please plan to attend to elect your church leaders, to vote to amend our bylaws, to vote on the Social Justice philanthropic organizations, and to hear updates on issues important to our Church life.
Kristina Watts, Congregational President
