AUUC is a governed by three entities. The Board of Directors (BOD) focuses on long term policy decisions; the Program Council determines and delivers church programs; and the Executive Committee works with day-to-day business decisions.
BOD General Description of Responsibilities
The Board is responsible for setting church policy, providing supervision for staff and directing the affairs of the Congregation. The Board determines and presents an annual budget to the Congregation; in conjunction with the Leadership and Development Committee, presents a slate of officers for election to the Congregation; approves staff contracts and employment agreements; and reviews and approves any long-term rental agreements.
Meeting Times
The Board of Directors meet regularly the first Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 pm. All meetings are open to the Congregation and members are encouraged and welcome to attend. Members, friends or interested parties can submit agenda items to the President ([email protected]) at least one week in advance of the regularly scheduled meeting .
Board Membership
Members of the Board are elected by the Congregation at the Annual Meeting (generally in the spring). The Board consists of eight members including the President, Vice President, Secretary and Financial Advisor plus three members-at-large and a youth member. The minister serves as an ex officio officer to the Board. Officers and members-at-large are elected to two-year terms beginning on July 1 of each year. Vacancies to the Board during a Board member’s term are filled by the Board appointing a member of the Congregation until the next annual business meeting.
