A Season for Nonviolence
Every year since 2006, AUUC has participated in the international observance of the Season for Non-Violence from January 30 to April 4 (the anniversaries of the assassinations of Mahatma Gandhi and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.) We observe the Season for Nonviolence to create an awareness of nonviolent principles and practices as a powerful way to heal, transform and empower our lives and communities. During this season, there will be chalice lighting readings at each Sunday service relating to non-violence and to our social justice focal issue of this year, racial justice.
