As we face an uncertain future, we find strength rooted in our deepest values. This week, we will continue to reflect on November’s spiritual theme of “The Practice of Repair,” not by focusing on what is broken, but by remembering what is always true: every person is inherently worthy and has the right to flourish with dignity, love, and compassion. Despite being overwhelmed by messages that would have us believe otherwise, we do not need to buy anything – or buy-into anything – in order to be worthy of love, grace, or belonging.
Rev. Kirk W. Freeman (he/him) has been the minister at Davies Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Camp Springs, MD, since 2023. He holds a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Kirk’s ministerial training included serving as a chaplain intern at the National Institutes of Health and as a ministerial intern at the UU Congregation of Rockville, MD. Before ministry, he spent 15 years working in politics as a congressional aide and government relations executive.
