Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions (FACS) unites people of faith to develop local solutions to the climate crisis, pursuing four purposes:
- Sound an ethical and spiritual call to address climate change.
- Encourage moral climate policies from a nonpartisan perspective.
- Enable congregations to do good works that protect our planet and its people.
- Empower congregations to become champions of change.
Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions is moving Fairfax County forward on green issues including meeting the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. FACS advocates for implementing a bold 2020 Fairfax to Zero Campaign Goals:
- Advocating the County become carbon neutral by 2050 and carbon neutrality for Fairfax County and FC Public Schools operations by 2030.
- Growing the tree canopy.
- Reducing the waste stream in the county and the resulting greenhouse gas emissions by becoming a Zero Waste jurisdiction.
- Ensuring that all county energy and climate plans prioritize the health and well-being of all residents and equity and inclusion across all policies and actions as we strive for an environmentally just community.
