Invitation to Honor
Through AUUC’s Social Justice Committee, our congregation has supported the Student Peace Awards of Fairfax County since 2007. Each year our 28 local high schools are given the opportunity to select a junior, senior, or student organization to receive the Peace Award for their school. Once again, all 28 schools selected awardees, students who have made a substantial contribution to peacebuilding in their school or broader community. The student Peace Award recipients will be honored with their families at the annual Spring Reception.
Date & Time: Sunday, March 1, 2026. Gathering begins at 3:30; ceremony starts at 4:15
Location: Sherwood Community Center – 3740 Blenheim Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030
AUUC is one of 15 sponsoring organizations, representing 10 faith communities, 4 nonprofits, plus GMU’s Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution. As active members of the Peace Award Committee, Nancy Davis, Lisa Hayes, and Dotty Smith work with all FCPS high schools in the fall to facilitate and encourage their participation.
